  • The UCL Alumni London Group's 10th-Anniversary Dinner took place on 22 November 2007. Dinner for 85 alumni and guests was held at the British Museum, with Ian Senior, founding chair of the group, describing the group's founding and subsequent successes.

UCL President and Provost Professor Malcolm Grant then spoke on UCL's recent achievements. He stressed how important such alumni activities were to UCL's continuing success.

Murie Robertson Certificates were awarded to Professor Michael O'Neill (UCL Mathematics 1963), chair of the group from 2003-2007, and to Dr Jim Parkin (UCL Chemistry 1959; PhD 1962), the current chair, who received the award on behalf of the group.

The group's volunteers organise about 30 events a year - such as talks, walks and theatre trips - to suit a variety of tastes, ages and pockets. Events in 2007 included a walk around the Docklands, a visit to the Globe Theatre to watch 'The Merchant of Venice', a visit to view the University of Surrey Tree Collection and Guildford Cathedral, a visit to Somerset House and a group trip to Berlin.

The next annual dinner will take place on November 19 2008 at the Royal Overseas League.
