UCL Environment Institute: World Water Day Lecture
21 March 2007
In support of this year's theme for the UN's World Water Day (Coping with Water Scarcity) the UCL Environment Institute is hosting a lecture by Dr Richard Taylor (UCL Geography).
The lecture will review the dynamic relationship between people and water and discuss what is meant by notion of 'water scarcity'. Both current estimates and predicted imbalances between water availability and demand will be critically examined.
Drawing primarily from research in Africa, Dr Taylor will also discuss strategies to address water scarcity in the face of the challenges posed to the sustainability of water supplies by population, poverty, pollution, and climate change.
'Coping with Water Scarcity - the Dynamic Relationship Between People and Water in Africa' is at 1pm, Thursday 22nd March in the Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre.
