Kenneth Kemp Bequest Lecture and Dinner

8 March 2007

The 2007 Kenneth Kemp Bequest Lecture and Dinner will take place on 20 March.

This year's lecture - on lightweight structures - will be given by Professor Werner Sobek from the University of Stuttgart.

Professor Sobek will explain how building using lightweight materials can make an
important contribution towards the environmental performance of contemporary architecture. His own works are breathtaking structures of unprecedented lightness and combine high-tech engineering with a strong ecological ethos.

Professor Ken Kemp was Chadwick Professor and Head of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering from 1970 to 1985. He left a generous bequest to UCL on his death in 2002, to be used to contribute to the understanding of the teaching of creative design.
