'Opticon1826' student essay competition

14 June 2007

UCL journal 'Opticon1826' has launched an essay competition open to all UCL students.

Entrants must complete the title 'The Future of…' and write between 2,000 and 2,500 words on the subject. 'Opticon1826' editorial staff will judge the entries. A top prize of £100 and two runner-up prizes of £50 will be awarded.

'Opticon1826' Editor-in-Chief Miss Gesche Ipsen (UCL Comparative Literature) said: "Which, or whose, future you envisage is entirely up to you. It could be anything: the future of a field of research, pop music, UCL, London, religion, planet Earth.... Entries should present a fresh and considered vision of the future of your chosen subject, and should be aimed at a general university audience."

Entries must be submitted by 5pm on 7 September 2007. The winning and runner-up entries will be published in the Autumn 2007 issue of 'Opticon1826'.
