Blair 'on trial' on radio

11 July 2007

BBC Radio 4's Saturday Play on 14 July 2007 is a new production of 'Called to Account - The Indictment of Anthony Charles Lynton Blair for the crime of aggression against Iraq - A Hearing', based on the work of Professor Philippe Sands (UCL Laws).

In early 2007, Professor Sands was one of two leading barristers who tested the evidence as to whether there would be sufficient grounds to indict the British Prime Minister for the crime of aggression against Iraq. They examined a number of distinguished witnesses, including Members of Parliament, diplomats, United Nations officials, intelligence experts and journalists.

The revealing testimony was re-told by actors earlier this year in the Tricycle Theatre's critically acclaimed tribunal play.

To mark the resignation of Tony Blair, the original cast return in this specially adapted version for BBC Radio 4. The broadcast is 2.30-3.30pm on 14 July 2007.
