UCL launches new Centre for Security & Crime Science

14 September 2006

UCL will establish Europe's first holistic security solutions agency on Monday 2 October, with the launch of the Centre for Security & Crime Science (CSCS).

Drawing on the research excellence of 20 academic departments at UCL, this virtual centre will leverage UCL's reputation as one of the world's leading research universities in the field of security.

The CSCS aims to address the security needs, both current and future, of companies in the local and global market. Hervé Borrion is the centre's Science Manager and is responsible for the relationship between UCL academics and the CSCS. He said: "In addition to being the first point of contact for businesses, the CSCS will also promote the development of innovative thinking through interdisciplinary research."

The launch event will be held in the Haldane Room at 5pm on Monday 2 October. Any staff interested in learning more about the CSCS are invited to email Nic Roberts to request an invitation.
