Straw Constitution Unit Lecture

The UCL Constitution Unit has announced that the Rt Hon Jack Straw MP, Leader of the House of Commons will deliver their Annual Lecture 2006. 

Entitled 'The Reform of Parliament', the lecture will be held on 24 October 2006, between 5.15pm and 7.45pm in the Gustav Tuck Lecture Theatre. The lecture will be followed by a reception in the South Cloisters. 

The unit has welcomed a number of prominent political figures to host lectures in recent years, including Sir David Steel, the late Robin Cook and Lord Falconer. 

The UCL Constitution Unit is currently holding its autumn/winter 2006 public seminar series, with Ken Clarke MP starting proceedings on 28 September 2006 at 1pm with his lecture 'The Conservative Party's Democracy Task Force'. 

New Zealand High Commissioner Jonathan Hunt will discuss 'The Impact of Proportional Representation on the New Zealand Parliament' on 11 October 2006, followed by the political journalist Peter Riddell on 9 November 2006, who will share his views on the highly topical subject of 'Constitutional Reform Agenda Under Gordon Brown'. 

Places at the Annual Lecture and the seminar series are free, but seats must be booked.
