Ivan Wall, a postdoctoral researcher at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, gave a presentation on bioscience research at the House of Commons on Monday.

His presentation, 'Chronic wound fibroblasts: ageing before their time', which looked at the functional decline in wound healing potential by aged fibroblasts, was one of a shortlist of 170 papers given at the event. The researchers were competing for the GJ Mendel Medal and prize money of £5000 in a competition to find Britain's 'Top Younger Researcher' in bioscience.

The event, organised by Set for Britain, was designed to encourage dialogue between scientists and politicians, and many MPs visited the reception during the day to view posters made by entrants.
