Disability Equality Scheme

5 December 2006

UCL Council has approved the university's new Disability Equality Scheme.

The scheme aims to promote equality of opportunity and positive attitudes towards disabled people; to foster an environment where discrimination and harassment of disabled people cannot flourish; to meet their needs where possible and encourage their full participation within the UCL community.

The document summarises current services for disabled staff and students, highlighting areas where services could be improved and identifying good practice. It includes an action plan with agreed priorities to redress the most pressing issues over the next three years. It also provides details as to how the impact of the proposed activities will be assessed and how progress will be monitored and reviewed.

The scheme was produced by a group of disabled staff and students with a wide range of impairments, and staff involved in disability issues at UCL.
