UCL Director of Development & Corporate Communications to retire

17 October 2005

Dr Alisdaire Lockhart, UCL Director of Development & Corporate Communications, will retire this autumn after 30 years service in university 'development' at Cranfield University, Bristol and UCL.

Dr Alisdaire Lockhart

Professor Malcolm Grant, UCL Provost and President, said: "Alisdaire joined UCL from Bristol in 2002 as Director of Development & Corporate Communications. Over the past three years he has reviewed the shape and capacity of the Development & Corporate Communications function and has overseen the planning and international launch of UCL's 10-Year Capital Campaign, recruiting Sir Digby Jones as Leader and the Vice-Presidents, and exceeding the fundraising target in the first year of the Campaign. In addition, the Corporate Communications Strategy was devised for UCL under his leadership, culminating in the successful launch of UCL's new visual image last summer.

"After a successful first year of the Campaign, Alisdaire has laid good foundations for the future and has put in place a talented Development & Corporate Communications team at UCL in good shape to continue the valuable work he has started at the university. We all wish him well in his retirement."
