US Chief Judge Douglas Ginsburg and European Court of First Instance President Bo Vesterdorf to address UCL Antitrust and Regulation Forum

Ginsburg, Chief Judge , United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and Bo Vesterdorf, President, Court of First Instance of the European Communities, are to address University College London's Antitrust and Regulation Forum on Thursday, 3 March 2005 at 6:00 pm in UCL's Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre, Gower Street , London WC1E 6BT . This is the first in a series of annual forums at UCL dedicated to shaping the debate on global competition policy and regulation.

In Thursday's forum, Judicial Review in EU and US Antitrust Law, Chief Judge Ginsburg will examine the role of private litigation in antitrust enforcement. President Vesterdorf will discuss the role of the Community courts (ECJ and CFI) in the EC anti-trust enforcement and talk about the effectiveness of the EC antitrust judicial review system and offer reflections on how it can be improved in terms of both substance and speed of review . Sir Christopher Bellamy QC, President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal, will chair the discussion.

The forum is organized by Professors Antonio Bavasso and David S. Evans who, along with Professor Valentine Korah, leads UCL's Competition Law and Economics programme.
