UCL BioMedica sign with City

31 March 2005

UCL BioMedica have signed an agreement with City University to provide them with technology transfer services.

The agreement - initially for one year - will provide City with the necessary expertise to exploit fully any spin-out activity generated by their technology-focused subjects.

UCL BioMedica are recognised experts in reviewing technologies to ascertain their viability in the commercial marketplace, and it is this expertise City have signed up to. Anne Lane, Executive Director of UCL BioMedica, said: "We will be advising City on issues of intellectual property and guiding them through the patent process for both spin out companies and research collaborations. A similar agreement with Birkbeck College was set up in 2000 and has proved to be a great success, and we look forward to repeating this with City."

UCL BioMedica has a team of 10 dedicated staff to commercialise bioscience research; assessing bioscience intellectual property for both protection and market potential. They promote, negotiate and conclude licensing opportunities and are also involved with academics in progressing ideas and presenting potential spin out opportunities to investors for funding.
