Chemical Biology Centre proposed

27 February 2004

UCL and King's College London have proposed the establishment of a joint Centre for Chemical Biology, to be based in King's Strand Building.

Professor Richard Catlow, Head of UCL's Department of Chemistry, said: "Chemical biology is an exciting and rapidly expanding area of interdisciplinary science in which chemistry is used to investigate biological problems at a molecular scale; as such, it requires a combination of the expertise of chemists and biologists."

The new centre aims to be at the forefront of this emerging discipline, and will combine expertise in synthetic, structural and computational aspects of the subject. It is hoped to establish the centre in 2004.
