UCL tops new science funding awards
16 February 2003
UCL will receive £63,889,111 from the Science Research Investment Fund (SRIF), more than any other university.
Sir Derek Roberts, UCL's Provost & President, said: "We are delighted that UCL has received the largest award in the country from the Science Research Investment Fund. This award reflects our position as the leading research institution in the UK and shows a clear commitment from government to investment in scientific excellence."
He continued: "All universities are now faced with the prospect of a very short submission and completion deadline for proposed projects, however we feel sure that this award will allow UCL to develop many exciting scientific projects."
This is the second time UCL has received the largest SRIF award. In 2001, UCL was awarded £46.4 million for research in sciences, engineering and medicine.
