The Neuroendocrinology group has been investigating GnRH ontogeny for over two decades, using 'accidents of nature' approaches of studying families with inherited hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism, as the starting point for identifying the nature and function of genes involved in reproductive competency.

Thus far, 21 such genetic loci have been shown to participate in the development of reproductive function, and our group has investigated the role of many of these in GnRH development, using both zebra-fish and more recently the developing chick as models for GnRH neuronal ontogeny.
