Nature-Inspired Solutions MSc

UCL Centre for Nature-Inspired Engineering (CNIE) has launched a new MSc course in Nature-Inspired Solutions.

Full details about the structure and content of the MSc in Nature-Inspired Solutions can be found here.

Outline of MSc in Nature-Inspired Solutions

The programme is taught by CNIE academics and researchers from across UCL, including the Faculty of Engineering and the Division of Medicine.

Students acquire an understanding on how to learn from solutions adopted by nature to solve similar issues in real life problems. This is done by distilling the fundamental principles behind desirable features in the model natural system and applying these to the technological system.

The programme aims to stimulate creative thought, lateral thinking, to come up with innovative solutions by using the systematic Nature-Inspired Solutions (NIS) methodology and use it in a wide context.

Taught modules, which equip students with research and technical skills, are complemented with fieldwork to develop a deeper understanding of nature, its multitude of designs, phenomena, diversity, and complexity – and the scope for applications of these.

Throughout the programme we place particular emphasis on developing the students’ transferable and professional skills.

The course uses state of the art facilities at the UCL Bloomsbury and UCL East campuses.
