CNIE Research Fellow Dr Nidhi Kapil Awarded Second Prize at UCL IHE Research Symposium

On January 23rd, the UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering (IHE) hosted its annual symposium, bringing together researchers and experts to discuss advancements in healthcare technology. The event featured engaging talks, collaborations across disciplines, and insightful keynote addresses.

A major highlight was the keynote speech delivered by Prof Dame Sue Hills, Chief Scientific Officer for NHS England, who shared valuable insights on the future of healthcare and the role of engineering in improving patient outcomes.

Among the presentations, Dr Nidhi Kapil delivered a talk on gold nanoparticles-based materials as antimicrobial surfaces to tackle AMR. Her innovative research secured her second place in the ECR flash talk competition. From CNIE, Prof Marc-Olivier Coppens, PhD student Klara Burdova and MSc student Harshika Chanchlani also attended the symposium.

The symposium also featured interesting discussions on hub collaborations across different disciplines, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork in tackling healthcare challenges.
