Maria Mourkou attends Diffusion Fundamentals IX conference in Poland
10 October 2022

PhD student, Maria Mourkou, from UCL Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering attended the Diffusion Fundamentals IX conference, which took place in Krakow, Poland between 21-24 September 2022.
Her poster with title “Experimental insights into the effect of surface roughness on Knudsen diffusivity” attracted a lot of interest and discussions with Professor Kärger and other acknowledged professors, academics and researchers. The poster received very positive comments and feedback.
The Diffusion Fundamentals conferences are devoted to diffusion and spreading phenomena in nature, technology and society. The first conference of the series was organized by professor Jörg Kärger in Leipzig in 2005 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Einstein’s famous paper on diffusion.
The conference series are of great importance to the NICE group. Professor Marc-Olivier Coppens gave a presentation at the 1st edition and has hosted the 4th edition of this conference in the USA at Rensselaer (Troy, NY) in 2011, while many researchers from the group have participated at all the previous editions with recent alumni, Dr Haiyue Yu and Mohammed Alkhunaizi, participating in the 8th edition.
