Project Title: Nineveh Gates: Challenges, Sustainability and Strengthening Community Relations in Mosul

Mustafa Yahya Faraj is an archaeologist with the Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage. He has been awarded a visiting scholarship at UCL for his project titled: Nineveh Gates: Challenges, Sustainability and Strengthening Community Relations in Mosul. This research focuses on the current status of the Nineveh Gates, the challenges faced, relations with the local community, and the future vision for their sustainability and preservation. Mustafa aims to study and analyze the damage to the gates of the city of Nineveh by ISIS, the encroachments that occurred as a result of urban expansion and to understand the impact of the Nineveh Gates on the local community.
