Connecting with the wider world

UCL is becoming a scanning centre of excellence, with applications for a range of sectors including engineering, biosciences, medicine, dentistry, anthropology, art and architecture.

Dr Anna Clark is Director of Corporate Partnerships at UCL. She identifies key partnerships and opportunities, negotiates multi-disciplinary collaborations, and is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships across a range of sectors, with companies such as BHP Billiton , EDF, Arup, Aon Benfield, FARO, Group Lotus, O2 Telefonica and Arius3D. She has recently been involved in the Tech City UK initiative, where UCL has co-partnered with Imperial College in agreements with Intel and Cisco.

Dr Clark has actively promoted innovative imaging and communication technologies at UCL, including 3D colour laser scanning and Virtual Reality, and encouraged arts-science initiatives. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET) and of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA)

Thanks to her initiative UCL is becoming a 3D imaging ‘centre of excellence’, with applications for a range of sectors including engineering, biosciences, medicine, dentistry, anthropology, art and architecture. UCL is exploring expanding its scanning research to its Qatar campus, which offers degrees in archaeology and conservation.

Besides the creation of 3D image libraries and digital learning tools based on the Petrie Museum collection, the collaboration with Arius3D Inc. has helped generate more than £3.5 million of research funding proposals. Workshops and seminars have attracted UCL staff from a wide variety of disciplines as well as external institutions such as the British Museum and the National Trust.

Arius3D Named SME Partner of the Year 2011

Arius3D has been awarded Small and Medium Enterprise Partner of the Year for the long-standing collaborative work and research it has helped to develop, in particular with the Petrie Museum, who are using the company's scanning equipment to develop innovative exhibitions and displays.
