Memories of Lead Toys

This object reminded me of some possibly lead toys I had when I was a child. They had been my dad's toys back from the 1950s before people knew of the risks of lead. He was a bit reluctant about letting me and my brother have them because he suspected there may have been lead in them. We were told to always wash our hands after using them. It is surprising just how much attitudes had changed towards health and safety in the space of about 40 years. By the 1990s there was a huge level of caution towards what children could do and the toys which they were allowed to play with.
