Stone and stone working in ancient Egypt

Stone working is already well attested in the Naqada period. Many stone vessels have been found in tombs of that period. In the Early Dynastic Period tombs were often cut deep into the (stone) ground, which must have contributed to the accumulation of experience in the development of stone working technologies.
