Saqqara Mastaba
of Kha-baw-Sokar
The mastaba belongs to the Third Dynasty. It is one of the earliest mastabas with a relief decorated chapel.
The mastaba was first excavated and recorded by Auguste E. Mariette (Mariette 1889: 71-79), who gave the mastaba the number A.2. Mariette published a plan of the building and some sketches of the decoration. The decoration was republished - this time in better drawings by Margaret Murray (Murray 1905: 2-4).
