The Gold name (Gold Horus name)
Since the Twelfth Dynasty the Gold name or Gold Horus name is attested in its classical form: the hieroglyph for gold with a falcon upon it. This kind of name was called rn n nbw (name of gold). In the Old Kingdom (about 2686-2181 BC) the form of the name varied. Already for Djer a name composed from the word nbw - 'gold' is attested. The main element of the name was at this time the gold sign, which could be combined with other words.
