Hawara, mummy labels

On many mummies of Ptolemaic and Roman Period date were found labels with short information about the deceased. Such labels are well-known from other sites, and seem to have had the primary function of identifying the body, perhaps in the context of larger-scale mummification, with higher numbers of bodies in each embalming workshop.
