After the foundation blocks were in place, their surface
was flattened.
A sunken bed was cut into the foundation blocks for the
first course of the wall. The sunken bed was created with the help of the
stretching cord.
Corner blocks were placed first, to help keep the alignment
straight.
Further blocks were put in place with the help of levers.
The last blocks were carefully dressed to fit into the last
gaps
A last step was the use of mortar. The stability of Egyptian
stone buildings was mainly achieved through the weight of the material.
Mortar was used to fill gaps for creating a solid impression of a wall.
