Shaghanbeh

Small settlement in the eastern Delta. The remains date primarily to the Third Intermediate Period. Parts of the site were excavated by Petrie in 1905. A modern popular tradition connects the place with Joseph (Burru el-Yusef - pits of Joseph), which was the main reason for excavations. Two wall systems were found. A brick wall and a later (?) sand wall. The inside of the settlement still contained many well preserved buildings.
