'Egyptian Red Slip A' is a copy of 'African Red Slip' using local Nile valley clay. The pottery was manufactured in the Theban region and exported to Nubia, but is not common in Lower Egypt. Egyptian Red Slip B was produced in Lower Egypt (thick coarse reddish fabric and thick red slip) while Egyptian Red Slip C (gritty rather loose-textured orange or brown clay) was produced at the fringe of the desert at the Delta.
