Nomen

Nomen is the term used in Egyptology to denote the birth name of the king, in contrast to the other royal names. The name does not appear in the titulary of the earliest kings, but is already mentioned under Den. From the late Old Kingdom, the name is normally connected with the title 'son of Ra'.
