Gaia obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biomedical Engineering, specialising in Biomechanics and Biomaterials, from Politecnico di Milano, Italy (2013 and 2015 respectively). She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at University College London. Her research is aimed to combine in vivo measurements, in vitro experiments and in silico FSI studies in order to understand the haemodynamic of aortic dissections and support the clinical decision-making process. Her research interests include tissue modelling and computational and experimental fluid dynamics of the cardiovascular system.
