Finite Element Analysis

Finite element analysis is employed to ensure the proposed structures are strong enough for the task but not unnecessarily heavy in their construction.

The group uses finite element software to analyse the designs for structural integrity and rigidity. Typically this involves assessing the effects of dynamic mechanical loading during sine or random vibration tests

These models are initially used to size parts of the structure and quantify the merits of different design solutions. Subsequently the final design is analysed in great detail and test predictions are made.
