The first image of the supermassive black hole at the centre of our own Milky Way galaxy has been produced by a global team involving UCL researcher Dr Ziri Younsi (UCL Mullard Space Science Laboratory).
Case studies submitted to REF 2021 by UCL Physics, a joint submission which includes UCL Space & Climate Physics, include: research on increasing public understanding of solar physics, and the first ever image of a black hole.
The Rosalind Franklin (ExoMars) rover, carries the PanCam (Panoramic Camera) system built by a team led by UCL-MSSL. PanCam is one of the key context instruments, one of 9 instruments on the rover.
