Recycling

We try to recycle as much as we can at MSSL and Taviton Street. You can find out below where you can recycle common items.

Mixed Dry Recycling

We have multiple recycling points for mixed dry waste, just look for the green-lidded bins.

What goes in these bins?

The following items can be recycled, but remember they must be clean and dry.

  • Paper
  • Cardboard, including coffee cup sleeves and sandwich boxes with the plastic separated
  • Drinks cans
  • Plastic drinks bottles
  • Cartons
  • Glass
  • Clean plastic containers

Contaminated waste or anything not listed above must go in the general waste. 

Where can I find the recycling points?

At MSSL:

  • Outside the main office
  • Near the lab entrance (inner lobby, G34)
  • Downstairs in the nu building, opposite ISO 8 cleanroom
  • In the boyd centre central area
  • In the stable block common room
  • In the canteen

At Taviton Street:

  • Next to the main printer.

Batteries

Used batteries can be deposited at the collection point in the main foyer at MSSL or at the collection point in B1 at Taviton Street. 

Blister Packs

Empty medicine and vitamin blister packs can be deposited with Sam Babister in the general office at MSSL.

Pens

Empty pens can be deposited at the collection point in the main foyer at MSSL.

Stationery

Stationery you no longer want or need can be taken to the general office for reuse at MSSL.
