Tai Chi Chuan is a sophisticated and supremely effective martial art. The main objective of the art is to achieve good robust health and peace of mind, while improving mental and physical efficiency and concentration. Tai Chi is built around the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang: The harmony of complementary opposite forces in all things. Research has suggested that tai chi can help reduce stress levels, improve balance, increase muscle strength in your legs, and improve general mobility and flexibility.
Nicole Halliday became a Wu Style Federation certified Instructor in Hong Kong 2012 and regularly teaches at Wu’s Tai Chi Chuan Academy, Bethnal Green. She proposes to perform a short set of exercises that can be easily followed and completed from a static, upright standing position over a period of 10-15 minutes, which emphasises coordination of breath with body movement, which could assist participants to feel more relaxed, refreshed and energised.
