The immune system is central to almost every aspect of human health and disease, with tissues accepted as the determinative site of immune cell function. Biopsies provide valuable insight but remain static snapshots that miss the critical temporal dynamics of immune responses. The ultimate aspiration would be to observe real-time, unperturbed, immune cell behaviour deep within the tissues of patients.
The eye can realise this goal, as the transparent ocular tissues are inherently suited for repeated in vivo imaging across time. My group is applying cutting-edge imaging technologies to achieve this using model systems and clinical studies, with a focus on ocular inflammatory diseases such as Uveitis.
The seminars are open to UCL & UCLH staff, students and their visitors. Please contact alison.kelly@ucl.ac.uk for all enquires
Audience members: Please ensure that your mic is muted and video turned off during the talk. There will be a 10-minute Q&A at the end of the talk. Please ensure that you use the ‘raise hand’ function if you would like to ask a question. Thank you.
