UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation marks anniversary at Pears Building with film launch

30 September 2024

A new film celebrating some of the world leading scientists at the UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation (IIT) has been released today to mark the third anniversary of the opening of the Pears Building, home of the IIT.

The Pears Building -  a unique collaboration between the Royal Free Charity, UCL, and the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust - is a hub for pioneering immunity research. Researchers at the Institute are investigating new therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, arthritis, and type 1 diabetes, as well as developing new therapies to stop the rejection of transplants.

The new film highlights scientists and clinicians from the Stauss lab at the Institute. Director of the IIT, Professor Hans Stauss, says he hopes the film will engage the public with the researchers and the work happening inside the Pears Building. “It focuses on the scientists as people, who they are, what drives them and why they are excited about working with patients to find new cures,” he said.
