Friends, funders and colleagues gathered at UCL yesterday to celebrate the launch of a multi-site venture aimed at enhancing regenerative medicine research in Portugal.

The Discoveries Centre for Regenerative and Precision Medicine was set up by Professor Jonathan Knowles and colleagues, following the receipt of a prestigious H2020 TEAMING grant in 2016.

The new Centre will focus on three clinical areas: musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disorders.

Professor Knowles said: “We are delighted to be able to launch the centre in collaboration with our partner in the Portuguese Universities.

“It will play a key role in the search for new and innovative strategies and interventions to tackle a wide range of diseases.

“The UCL Team will now focus on developing its translational capabilities both from a clinical and entrepreneurial perspective.”

Yesterday’s event featured a number of talks from stakeholders and was followed by a drinks reception.
