In October 2015 UCL Eastman Senior Lecturer Dr James Phillips joined a UCL clinical colleague and a nerve injured patient at a Special Grand Round Session on Peripheral Nerve Regeneration: The science, surgery and experience of regenerative neuroscience.
Dr Phillips' talk described the body’s response to peripheral nerve injury and the major challenges associated with repairing damaged nerves. He then described tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research that aims to improve nerve repair and is being undertaken at UCL in collaboration with industry partners and a multidisciplinary team of colleagues.
The full Special Grand Round can now be viewed online.
Dr Phillips is also an active participant in other Eastman outreach activities such as school talks and the production of educational activities based on tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and neuroscience.
