We’d like to wish all members of Team GB good luck as this year’s Olympic Games.
Over the past few months it has been a privilege and a pleasure to meet with many athletes, their support staff and team organisations.
Professor Ian Needleman, Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Head of our Centre for Oral Health and Performance*, said: “We have been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm of the teams to help with oral health research with UCL Eastman’s Dr Paul Ashley, Dr Julie Gallagher and myself as well as our collaborator Dr Geoff St George, of Eastman Dental Hospital, UCLH NHS Foundation Trust.
“Hopefully with the help and insight that we have provided GB will have more champions than ever - with nice smiles and healthy mouths!”
* The Centre has recently been awarded recognition by the International Olympic Committee as an IOC Research Centre for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health as part of the collaborative bid with the ISEH and the National Centre for Sport Exercise and Health for the next four years
