  • Art launch at the Whittington Undergraduate Centre

On the 1st of December 2014 we held our UCL Medical School Undergraduate Centre art launch where paintings were created by local artist Nicole Price and officially launched by Professor Jane Dacre.

The paintings focussed on famous medical people associated with the Whittington over the years, including Francis Crick, Edward Jenner and Florence Nightingale. We also had a special painting commissioned of Dick Whittington. We wanted paintings that represented what medical students study and so local artist Nicole Price designed and painted wonderful multi-coloured images of viruses to cover the walls.

In addition to these hand painted portraits we also had mounted photographs of medical students at work which were taken by a mixture of UCL Undergraduate staff and students. These photographs were edited to a very high standard by Huw Jones, senior graphic designer at UCL Creative Media Services.

We were entertained throughout the evening by the voices of the UCL Medical School choir who sung a selection of songs for us and a cheese and wine reception was provided by our Site Sub Dean Dr Caroline Fertleman.

This project has been a very successful venture between UCL Medical School and the Whittington Health Trust which has truly enhanced the Undergraduate Centre for medical students for years to come.

Please feel free to pop up to the Undergraduate Centre on Level 3 Highgate Wing to see our art work for yourself - we are open from 8.30am until 5pm.

Millions could benefit from faster prostate cancer scan
