Case study: Single-dose radiotherapy transforms breast cancer patient care
UCL clinicians have pioneered a single-shot targeted radiotherapy for breast cancer to be delivered in the same operation as tumour surgery. This removes the need for follow-ups and reduces debilitating side-effects. The single-shot targeted intraoperative radiotherapy (TARGIT-IORT) was developed by a team led by Professor Jayant Vaidya at UCL's Division of Surgery and Interventional Science.

TAPb facilitates the access, storage, use and transfer of human organs, cells, and tissue between clinical centres within UCL and a range of institutions to help researchers access the materials they need.
