My research in medicinal chemistry and chemical biology seeks to ask biological questions using chemical tools. Sometimes these can be new therapies such as in our work on Fragile X and the compound (R) 3-(5-Dimethylcarbamoyl-pent-1-enyl)-N-(2-hydroxy-1-methylethyl) benzamide is in clinical trials. Our research on protein degraders demonstrates exquisite selectivity for target proteins, while work on “chameleon” type molecules enables blood-brain barrier penetration.
