About us
Location: Bloomsbury
We are creating unique image-guided diagnosis and therapy centres which combine clinical translational expertise in tissue and energy with medical bioengineering expertise within the UCL Department of Engineering. This will enable us to develop novel, minimally invasive surgeries and other medical interventions.
Our work
Each of our research areas has an interest in minimally invasive approaches, innovative technologies, and biomarkers of risk, for use in diagnosis and therapy. From bench to bedside, we are involved in the very earliest proof of concept studies within the laboratory, right through to large clinical trials on the hospital ward.

3D Models of Health and Disease
At the Centre for 3D Models of Health and Disease, we develop biomimetic tissue models to study basic tissue biology and how disease progression impacts tissue form and function.

Gastroenterological Intervention
At the UCL Gastroenterological Intervention Centre (GENIE), we develop new, minimally invasive approaches to manage diseases of the oesophagus, stomach, and bowel.

Head & Neck
We embrace new ways of working across head and neck disciplines, always reviewing current practices to deliver the best outcomes for patients.

Perioperative Medicine
We are committed to improvement in care, outcomes and the experience of patients contemplating, undergoing, and recovering from surgery.

Sport and Exercise Medicine
As the principal sports medicine Olympic legacy project in London, we translate research on elite athletes into health benefits for the general public.

Targeted Cancer Therapies
We focus on emerging cancer-targeted technologies that offer potential to treat challenging situations where treatments are currently limited or accompanied by healthy tissue toxicities.

Urology
We use radical and critical thinking to transform understanding of urological disease, and delivery of care for urological patients across the spectrum of urological conditions.
