At a time when NHS staffing has never been more important, a team of researchers from UCL, NIHR and Leicester Biomedical Research Centre will determine which ethnic groups are at greatest risk of leaving the NHS in 2024.

UCL Medical School has been recognised for its commitment to gender equality by achieving a Silver Award as part of the Athena SWAN Charter.

Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (WHTH) Ginny Edwards, Edwin Josephs and Jonathan Rennison visited UCL Medical School (UCLMS) last month.

UCL has risen to 7th place in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 clinical and health category, marking UCL as one of the best universities to study Medicine. 

The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place in Amman, Jordan, marked a major milestone moment in the multi-year partnership project to build a new state-of-the-art university, university hospital and research centre.

Medicine graduate, Niraj Doshi, scooped the award for his viva presentation at this year's ceremony, making it the third year running that a UCL Medical School student has won the Gold Medal in the prestigious University of London competition.

Professor Ahmed Rashid (UCL Medical School) has been awarded the Karolinska Institutet Prize for Research in Medical Education (KIPRIME) Fellowship, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of medical education.

In the latest Planetary Health Report Card, UCL Medical School has been ranked as No.2 medical school in the UK for sustainability in medical education for the second year running.

UCL remains a global leader for Medicine after moving up another place in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023. UCL is now ranked 6th in the world for Medicine and maintains its position as number one in London.

Accreditation from the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM) was confirmed this week with UCL Medical School.

Final year medical student, Jai Prashar, has won the Faculty of Public Health's Sir John Brotherston Prize for his research essay: 'Long Covid: conceptualising the challenges for public health,' which evaluates the UK and international public health response to long Covid.

Third-year medical student, Luke Muschialli, has been selected to join the Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) Scholars programme - a prestigious scholarship set up to develop and nurture healthcare leaders of the future.

Congratulations to UCL Medical School Honorary Clinical Lecturer, Dr Adam Boggon, who has received a Fulbright Award to study at Harvard University on one of the most highly-regarded and competitive scholarship programmes in the world.

UCL MBBS graduate, Lara Rossi, has claimed the top award in the 2022 University of London Gold Medal competition. Lara beat 21 candidates from Imperial, Queen Mary, St Georges and Kings to win this year’s coveted medal.
