Student Voice - Have your Say!
There are many ways to have your say on your experiences on the MBBS course, and to suggest or even get involved with improvements to our programme.
There are two ways to feedback on your learning experience, by completing a survey or by speaking to your Students Reps.

If you have an idea for how to improve an aspect of the programme, we would also encourage you to undertake a SQUID project.
Fill out a Learning Survey
Learning Surveys are your opportunity to feedback on your individual modules and placements. They are hosted on the Academic Student Record (ASR) and consist of three core questions:
- numerical “satisfaction score”
- an option to nominate someone for a Top Teacher or Top Administrator Award
- a free text for any comments you would like to make
You can complete a Learning Survey for your module or placement at any time, whilst you are there or afterwards. You can also submit subsequent entries if you find you have more to add. Your Module Lead may give you an opportunity to complete this as part of a teaching session.
Feedback should be constructive, i.e. how could we make the course better? Comments will be moderated by the QA team and published regularly. Any negative comments which name individuals will be redacted and forwarded to the relevant leads for review and follow-up if necessary.
ASR provides a live dashboard where you can see your feedback alongside your peers’ in real time. This will enable Leads to react to your feedback more quickly, as do not need to wait for summary reports after each term has finished.

Complete an Annual Survey
Towards the end of each year, you will be given the opportunity to complete a survey covering topics such as assessments, learning resources, personal academic tutors, and facilities.
In years 1-5 this is the Annual Programme Survey (APS) which all UCL students complete. In Year 6 this is the National Student Survey (NSS) which all undergraduate finalists in the country complete.
First year students will be invited to complete a New to UCL Survey towards the end of the first term, asking about your welcome and induction experience.
Contact your Student Reps
At UCLMS we have a RUMS President and two Vice-Presidents, who look after matters relating to Years 1-3 or Years 4-6 respectively, as well as other committee members.

In addition, each module will have up to two Student Reps. You can find the name of your Reps here:
Module Reps will attend and contribute to the Student Experience sub-Committees where Learning Survey feedback is discussed and actions plans are made. You can find the minutes of these here:
You can contact your Student Reps if there is something you would like them to take forward on your behalf, perhaps to a UCLMS committee. They will also be canvassing your opinions, either generally or on specific areas that have been identified as needing improvement.
Submit a Report and Support
Report and Support gives you the opportunity to feedback at any time on incidents that have concerned you, for example if you have been subjected to bullying or harassment; or have witnessed patient safety issues whilst on placement.

Nominate someone for Name and Proclaim
Name and Proclaim is your opportunity to shout out about members of clinical or administrative staff, or students, who have impressed and inspired you.
- Have you encountered an excellent clinician, who demonstrated a perfect bedside manner?
- Has a tutorial or lecture left you fascinated by new knowledge or impressed by someone’s unique and inspirational teaching style?
- Has an administrator gone the ‘extra mile’ to support you as a student?
If so, you can submit a Name and Proclaim form, and we will send them a certificate thanking them for their support.

Carry out a SQUID Project
Do you have an innovative idea for a concept aimed at enhancing your medical student experience? If so, you can apply for funding to carry out a SQUID project. In addition to benefiting yourself and your colleagues and the medical school, it will also look great on your CV.
