Dr Rima Chakrabarti (Staff)
My interest in Gender Equality started early in my undergraduate training and has continued throughout my career.
Now as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, I am always exploring how we can improve awareness and break down the barriers that affect both genders when it comes to health and wellbeing.
Since starting at UCLMS in 2020, I have worked alongside the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Unit to reframe the ‘Raising Concerns’ process and, as Chair of the Gender Equality group, on the development of the strategic plan for tackling ‘Misogyny and Gender Based Violence’.
More recently, I led the department in their Athena Swan application to gain Silver status in 2023. As lead for the Curriculum Map and co-chair of the EDI committee, my interests are in integrating issues related to diversity and inclusivity into what we teach.
My other interests include attrition in postgraduate training and menopause and I continue to supervise students both in the Masters and PhD programme.
Katie Lewiston (Staff)
I’m Katie (she/her) and I joined UCLMS at the start of 2024 as a Clinical Lecturer (Teaching) with a focus on Year 1 and 2. After graduating in 2014, I have worked in various medical departments, but my passion came to be Care of the Elderly Medicine.
I have always enjoyed medical education and decided to make this my career focus in 2022. Since then, I have completed a PGCert and PGDip in Clinical Education and am currently working on my Master’s. I am excited to contribute to the work of the EDI Committee to break down gender inequalities and power imbalances that can affect people working in healthcare and medical research.
I’m a great foodie and love anything to do with cooking and eating, even going to the supermarket (especially abroad)!
Megan Vaughan (Staff)
Hi, I'm Megan. I recently joined the PGME team here at UCLMS as a Lecturer in Postgrad Medical Education. My background is in Optometry, having previously practiced, taught, and researched in this area.
I am a committee member for the Women in Vision UK committee and lead the mentorship stream. I have a keen interest in optometry/ophthalmology, colour vision, education, EDI, and inclusivity. Outside of academia, I love cats, swimming, and sewing!
