Support our building and equipment
The Pears Building should provide the best possible infrastructure for research, training, and clinical delivery, with state-of-the-art lab facilities and teaching space. Gifts of any size can support the new building. There are opportunities to name floors, laboratories or public spaces.
Breakthrough discoveries depend on researchers having access to cutting-edge technologies. The discovery that type 1 diabetes is caused by the immune system was possible because a UCL researcher had access to a particular fluorescence microscope.
Today, the work of the IIT remains dependent upon having the very latest and best scientific equipment. Donors can help to fund core equipment, or provide general support that enables us to acquire new technologies as they become available.
Support our people
The IIT will bring together over 200 researchers to develop and translate new research into new treatments for patients. These are formed of:
- scientists
- academic clinicians
- clinical trials specialists.
Philanthropic gifts can help to support the people who make discoveries happen, from Master's students and early career researchers through to Clinical Chairs.
Donors can choose to support individuals conducting research in a specific disease area of interest, such as cancer, diabetes or HIV.

The Director's Discretionary Fund provides the IIT Director with the flexibility to respond to the greatest needs of the Institute as they arise.
