Why Implant Dentistry?
Modern implant dentistry is constantly evolving and presents challenges that require new skills as well as meeting high patient expectations. A university-based training programme provides a sound basis for evidence-based training and education. Gaining new skills in implant dentistry provides a foundation to treat patients with dental implants and rewarding careers in Implant Dentistry.
Why Eastman?
Our course is for dentists with little or no experience in Implant Dentistry. It will enable you to diagnose, plan and treat patients who need implant-supported restorations, and bring implant dentistry into your practice. Graduates gain the skills for dental implant case selection and planning and to place and restore straightforward implant cases. The three-year MSc gives you an opportunity to progress based on your individual needs and interests.
Our programme has ran since 2007, evolving into a full Master's degree. Students can exit with either a Certificate, Diploma or Master's qualification as they complete the relevant modules.
We combine remote teaching with some face-to-face sessions. Remote teaching will consist of webinars and self-directed study. Face-to-face teaching comprises interactive lectures, seminars, hands-on training, live surgery and supervised clinical treatment (both surgical and restorative implant treatment). In the second year (diploma), you will be able to treat patients with one-on-one specialist supervision.
Our clinical tutors are experienced GDC registered specialists in either Prosthodontics or Oral Surgery. You will also benefit from invited national and international speakers. It’s advisable to have an experienced mentor to support you for cases in practice until you are confident to work alone. We can provide advice about mentoring when you start the course.
