This department focuses upon the integrated management of complex restorative problems, encompassing endodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics.

The problems include dental pain, gum disease, dental abscesses, tooth decay and wear and tear (including cracks and fractures) and missing teeth.
We have a proud record of evidence-based practice, seeking to inculcate the highest standards of clinical care underpinned by highly skilled clinicians.
The department enjoys excellent outcomes in postgraduate training and progression in subsequent careers of their graduates. Many going on to specialist practice, teaching positions and research careers.

Endodontics
Endodontic service is in massive demand in the UK and globally with longer life spans and retention of teeth.

Periodontology
Periodontitis (gum disease) is considered one of the most common inflammatory diseases worldwide. In the UK alone, 45% of the population suffer from some form of periodontitis.

Prosthodontics
Our programme trains postgraduates to diagnose, treatment plan and manage patients with complex Prosthodontic needs, using an evidence-based approach.

Endodontics
The unit does not organise individual meetings or visits with prospective applicants due to the large numbers involved. If you are shortlisted for interview you will be invited to the Institute where you will learn about the philosophy, structure and delivery of the programme(s) including our aims and objectives. You will have the opportunity to view previous students’ academic and clinical work and to discuss your proposed studies and ambitions with an interview panel consisting of the Head of Department, Programme Director and Deputy Programme Director. You will also have the opportunity to talk to other staff and the current students and have a tour of the facilities.
Periodontology
