Undergraduate Study
The UCL Cancer Institute runs a flagship BSc Cancer Biomedicine. This is also available with a fourth master's year, where you will carry out a major research project.

Cancer Biomedicine BSc
Study a degree that sets you up to play your part in tackling cancer, taught by world renowned researchers at UCL working at the forefront of cancer research.

Cancer Biomedicine MSci
Learn about molecular biology and cancer genetics, cancer biology and therapeutics, clinical cancer management and the wider impact of cancer diagnoses on society.

Oncology iBSc
A year-long full-time degree for intercalating medical students. We focus on cancer as a disease, its treatment, associated research and societal impact.

Integrated Medical Sciences
Most of the BSc courses in the Faculty of Medical Sciences have a shared first year. This gives you core knowledge and techniques but also the flexibility to switch degrees if your interests change.
Postgraduate Study
The UCL Cancer Institute offers a flagship MSc Cancer degree, plus a PhD programme that can be specialised by department.

Cancer MSc
Our flagship taught Master's degree helps you to develop valuable key skills and experience with which to progress a career in academia or industry.

PhD, MPhil, MD(Res), MB/PhD
Postgraduate research programmes span the breadth of academic expertise within UCL.
Why study Cancer at UCL?
University College London is one of Europe's largest and most productive centres of biomedical science with great strengths in cancer research. Our scientists have an international reputation for leading basic, translational and clinical cancer research. Their areas of expertise include:
- the biology of leukaemia
- the infectious causes of cancer
- the design of drugs that interact with DNA
- antibody-directed therapies
- the molecular pathology of cancer
- epigenetic changes in cancer
- gene therapy
- early phase clinical trials
- national and international clinical trials in solid tumours and blood cancers.
We collaborate with scientists in nanotechnology, bioinformatics and computational sciences, developmental biology, stem-cell research, immunity, engineering and medicinal chemistry.
It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! The MSc Cancer course is challenging and enriching. The staff and students are supportive, open-minded and friendly and I adapted easily to the living and learning environment at UCL.

Razma Sarastry
The MSc Cancer course developed the skills I'll need for my PhD. I now understand the approaches to predict, detect and treat cancer, and critically analyse scientific literature. The summer research project is great. You can carry out experiments independently in a lab setting like the rest of the scientists.
